World Champs on hold

This afternoon in Macau the World Championship has been suspended after two heats, after the the track surface started breaking up. It was originally resurfaced in June and was apparently fine for a local race, but it started bubbling up last week and had to be done again. It hasn’t had time to set properly and as heat one winner Ben Hanley said, “the track is finished”. Bressan won heat two by the length of the straight and then the meeting was stopped.

Last thing I saw was Ardigo, Fore and Toman (representatives of the biggest teams) walking the track with the CIK officials trying to come up with a solution.

There is also a lot of grit on the track, which is causing problems with engines.
